Mahakaleshwar Jyotirlinga

Mahakaleshwar Jyotirlinga is one of the 12 sacred Jyotirlinga of the Lord Shiva, situated on the bank of the Shipra River in Ujjain, Madhya Pradesh. Ujjain has been considered as a major centre for the religious, culture from ancient time and is also a one of the seven sacred cities (Sapta Puri).

The Nagchandreshwar Temple is located on the third floor of the Mahakaleshwar Jyotirlinga. Lord Shiva is lying on the coiled body of the serpent Shesha with the Goddess Parvati seated behind him.
